Q: I noticed a dark discoloration on the outside threads of my Age-Defying Body Treatment tube where the product touches near the cap. What is this, and should I be concerned?

A: Great question!  It’s totally understandable to notice and ask! What you're seeing is a natural and harmless oxidation reaction that can occur when the product comes into contact with the outer threads at the top of the tube, just outside the dispensing orifice.
This area has a different protective liner than the fully lined food grade interior of the tube, and in some cases, trace exposure to the underlying material, combined with air and certain ingredients like Vitamin C and essential oils, can trigger a minor surface oxidation reaction. The result may look like a dark or grayish film around the threads or cap area. This discoloration is harmless and can be avoided by simply wiping clear any excess product from the opening after use.
